This new sport surfing through the sky is coming from 1980 where the skydivers start jumping with boards on there feet out of planes. Doing the years this discipline got more and more people how do it, and 1993 the first competition it was done. It was won by Patrick DeGayardon how was one of the pioneer how brought this sport up. He discovered different moves, and showed the first time the beauty of SkySurfing to the people.
Doing the world meet 1995 in Germany, Rob Harris took over the lead to fly with boards in the sky. He brought up to fly up side down with his camera flyer and spin faster then anybody else. He showed new techniques, different transitions, and a perfect timing. (Rob died on December 14, 1995, doing a PEPSI commercial)

1997 was the year off Oliver Furrer - he got the world champion title in Turkey, won the world natures Games in Brazil, was winner of the SSI Cup Pro Tour, got the gold medal on the US-Open, and showed the best performance on the Boards over Europe.

The team PULSE won the most competition ever in history in SkySurfing, with there new style the "FreeSurf", there artistic, and the team work in the sky this team is unbeatable.

On the US-Open 1998 the best field ever in history on SkySurfer showed up, and competed against each other. After several rounds team PULSE got the gold again, and also finished first on the Europe champion ship.

Oliver Furrer competed with different camera flyers the US X-Games during the years 1996-2000, and he got one silver and two bronze medals. A incredible result he performed every year, and did big work in this sport. Since 2000 SkySurfing is not anymore in the ESPN X-Games, but in many other events this sport is a big thing.

During the last years not much has changed. Many other SkySurf-teams are flying the FreeSurf technic, how Oliver Furrer invented. Its a creative way to fly through the sky and play active together.

The top SkySurf-team PULSE won in 2004 the vice world Champion title in Brazil and showed again new performance to the judges.

The world meet 2006 was hosted at Gera, Germany and was the largest skydive event in history. During this spectacular competition the team PULSE won the first place in the skysurf discipline against 10 total teams. During this short competition with a lot of bad weather Oliver Furrer and Lukas Koller performed great at the free rounds and perfect at the compulsory round. With these gold medal the Swiss skysurf team has won more podium places as any other team before.
